The shrines at New Years time turn into festivals with street vendor style food. One of our favorites is Takoyaki (octopus fritters)
The picture in the middle is yakisoba, another favorite.
My Nihon Pics
Since the late 80s I have been traveling back and forth between the US and Japan. I lived there for about 6 years with my wife, where we had a daughter then moved back to the Northwest US permanently in 96. We try to go back each year, and in the process I have take a lot of pictures. I decided to post the ones I like here. Hope you enjoy them too.

Peace
The Kamakura Daibutsu (Big Buddha) was once covered by a structure. At some point it was washed off by a tsunami so now it's out in the open, and on beautiful days you can get some really nice pictures there. This picture was taken a couple of years ago when we decided to go play tourist in one of our favorite places.
